L 410 pilots since the 1 April 2017 can be trained on a brand new modern simulator which meets all regulatory requirements for the highest level of these devices according to the standards of ICAO, EASA and FAA. This simulator was custom made by the Canadian company CAE for the Czech Aviation Training Center (CATC), a subsidiary of state enterprise Air Traffic Control. Based on the increasing demand of L 410 aircraft operators, an investment project in the development, production and operation of the simulator started in 2015 by signing a cooperation agreement between the Aircraft Industries, CATC and CAE. The project was completed in March 2017 by certification of the flight L 410 UVP-E20 simulator at the highest level possible - the D category. This certification was carried out by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Czech Republic. The new simulator is installed in Hangar B, at CATC headquarters in Prague Ruzyně Airport. For the development of the simulator of such category it was essential to measure all the parameters in flight on a real airplane. Measurements were carried out in cooperation with our engineers and pilots. L 410 simulator is now in line with the latest trends of pilot training – such high level will be required for similar equipment in 2019. Existing simulators of older models of the 70s and 80s of the last century no longer meet contemporary demands for quality pilot training. Uniqueness of the L 410 simulator installed in the Czech Aviation Training Center is based mainly on the extent of imitation of actual flight aircraft characteristics, which is so high that it allows even the most demanding training in coping with unusual situations during the flight. Such training was previously possible only in real aircraft and to a very limited extent. Thanks to the new simulator, CATC training center at the same time will expand its portfolio of products for L 410 Crew Training not only for pilots from the Czech Republic but also from abroad. With this simulator pilots will be better prepared for extreme situations that might happen in a real operation. It is therefore evident that the training of L 410 pilots will significantly improve and this will lead to a higher level of safety during flights.
